MAYA RESORTS
Maya Resorts is proud to announce Maya SafeStay Guideline for re-opening of all Maya Resorts services post-COVID-19. The main objective of the guideline is to ensure optimum safety of our guests against being infected with the Corona-virus.
The guideline is to comply with recommendations from local authorities and with international organisations in charge of dealing with the pandemic, such as: World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).
Because of the dynamic nature of the pandemic, the guideline prepares Maya Resorts to be ready for opening in 3 phases:
This phase is to ensure all existing health and safety features in the hotel are in good working condition before re-opening. Recommendations by local, national and international authorities for prevention of Covid 19 are to be communicated to all staff through posters, leaflets, WhatsApp messages and Google Drive library. A document containing latest emergency plans and reporting channels to local authorities should be readily available.
This phase is to give detailed instructions in steps for each hotel department operations in order to be prepared for all conceivable scenarios to ensure the highest guarantee of safety to guests and hotel staff.
The protocols are to be updated regularly to comply with changes in local regulations and to meet recommendations by WHO or CDC. Maya Resorts would like to recognise and thank Ecolab Inc., an American global provider of hygiene technologies and services to the food, energy, healthcare, industrial and hospitality markets. The collaboration with Ecolab has produced a set of protocols that give detailed and practical solutions for all departments to be Covid 19 ready.
Front Desk protocol is to cover maximum allowed occupancy, having a log book of guests body temperature, implementation of recommended safe distance and use of masks, ensuring use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for specific circumstances, disinfecting of work stations and equipment, and encouraging guests to use mobile phone app to avoid physical exchange of documents.
Housekeeping protocol is to ensure cleaning of rooms with procedures to protect hotel employees from getting infected and to prevent cross contamination when cleaning rooms. This includes use of appropriate PPE, use of colour coded cleaning cloth and removal of non-essential items such as rugs and magazines. Amenities are to be reduced to only the essentials, and hand sanitizer gels are to be included in every room. Frequently handled items, such as television remote control, telephone, switches, door handles are to be disinfected everyday. Upon check out rooms are to be deep cleaned using recommended disinfectant, and further disinfected using UV light. As recommended by CDC for disinfecting confirmed Covid-19 area, rooms are to be left vacant for at least 24 hours, for an extra layer of safety.
Safety measures will be implemented that both guests and employees must follow. All service sittings will be arranged, the restaurants’ seating capacity will be reduced and it will be compulsory to disinfect your hands on entry.
Guests will not be handling food as our buffets will not be available. Only our Team members will be handling food.
Cutlery and table set up will be handled only when guests start service.
Pools will have capacity limits, there will be safe distances between lounge chairs and umbrellas. The frequency of cleaning the pool and jacuzzi areas will be increased, and water disinfectant products that are appropriate to the current situation will be used. Personal protection measures will also be respected, as staff will wear masks.
These examples are a few highlights taken from the new protocols, but there are many more actions that involve suppliers, transporters and distributors, which cover the use of lifts or how the bathrooms in communal areas are used, as well as new measures to be applied by the staff in Bar, Kitchens and Entertainment.
To ensure that all Covid-19 measures are implemented and of efficient and effective efforts, there must be good training and monitoring programs and regular monthly reviews of the protocols and programs to update with the latest recommendations from the local government and the pandemic authorities.
